On teachers:
- I think the basic qualities that you need to be a good teacher are constant; I don't think they will ever change. I think when someone is listening to this in the future, if they are a teacher, they will say “yes, I know what the qualities are that make a good teacher”.
- Males do learn in a different way to females and they do have different needs in the way they perceive things in school. I think there was a time in the 1970s that it would have been absolutely taboo to have said that, we were all the same, we were all equal, there were no differences. These fashions come and go, but I think that people will recognise, actually, that men and women's brains do actually function in a slightly different way.
