On serving in the NAAFI – 1944:
- At first I was serving behind the counter, then I got made cook and ended up spending my time cooking. Baking cakes and all that sort of thing, doing lunches.
On Dr Croft’s house:
- It was on 3 levels. At the front, on Long Acre, there was the surgery and waiting room and a dispensary at the bottom. Above that was the kitchen and I had two rooms above the surgery, then it was all stairs. You used to go down the hall, dining room and lounge then upstairs there was about four or five bedrooms.
