On school days:
- I wouldn't say it was the happiest days of your life. I remember on many occasions Miss Wortley telling me to stand in the corner and all that sort of thing. We had some school gardens, which are now at the bottom of what is the Robert Miles School, and many a time, if they got fed up with you, you would end up down at the school garden.
On the Banks:
- The Banks, as such, were banks, they used to rise from the road, up either side, and there was not a footpath as such. It was always littered with manure because the cows used to walk down that way, down to the farms in Bingham. It was very much different to what it is today.
