Forces War Records George is likely to have been involved in some or all of the actions recorded below.

2nd Battalion
A year before George enlisted the battalion was mobilised for war on 06.11.1914 and landed at Havre where the Division engaged in various actions on the Western Front before George joined. From the beginning of 1916 he would have been involved in action as follows:

During 1916
The Battle of Albert on the Somme.
During 1917
The German retreat to the Hindenburg Line, The Battle of Pilkem, The Battle of Langemarck.
04.02.1918 Transferred to the 62nd Brigade of the 21st Division.
During 1918
The Battle of St Quentin, The First and Second Battle of Bapaume, The Battle of Messines, The Second Battle of Kemmel, The Battle of the Aisne, The Battle of Albert, The Battle of Epehy, The Battle of the St Quentin Canal and the Battle of Cambrai. The later was fought in September; the Battle of the Selle was in November.
It thus seems likely that Robert was wounded at Cambrai.
