Bingham Parish Magazine Christmas 1918 | Canon Hutt, the Rector, wrote: During the Christmas season we have had the opportunity of welcoming back our prisoners from Germany. Robert Lamb arrived at the end of November. All the time he was in captivity he never went near the place he was told to give as his address, and he received but one letter, and that was from his brother who was fighting barely 15 miles away. He was set to work on an aerodrome, and when our airmen bombed it the Hun fled to their dug-outs. Meanwhile Bob and his fellow-prisoners improved the shining hour by raiding the Hun ration dump. They quite enjoyed our air raids. |
