WORLD WAR I

Bingham War Memorial

Service Record

94908 Gunner George E Fowell Royal Tank Corps. 1896
Medal Card Awarded Victory and British Medals We have no date of enlistment for George so do not know when he would have been with the Tank Corps in France.
Lack of a 1915 Star suggests he joined in or after 1916, when he would have been 20.
longlongtrail.co.uk Tanks were first used on the battlefield of the Somme on 15/9/1916. Each tank was manned by a Subaltern, three drivers and four gunners.
