Next of Kin: Frederick Baxter, Fisher Lane, Bingham. 26/3/17 Posted 3rd Bn N Staffs 22/6/17 Posted 4th Bn N Staffs Posted to France 6th October 1917. 24/12/17 Posted Depot (UK) 2/4/18 Posted 3rd Bn N Staffs 27/8/18 Transferred 9th S Staffs (France) 2/9/18 Posted 1st S Staffs 1/8/19 transferred to 1st Suffolk Regt (Italy). 21/11/19 to reserve on demob Fred served two spells in France: 6/10/17 to 23/12/17. On 7.10.1917 the 4th battalion mobilised for war landing at Havre and transferred to the 167th Brigade of the 56th Division. On 15.11.1917 it transferred to the 106th Brigade of the 35th Division near Ypres and engaged in various actions on the Western Front. 27/8/18 to 31/7/19. The 1st Bn was involved in the battle of Cambrai (Oct 1918) and Second Battle of the Sambre (November). 12/12/17 deprived of 2 days’ pay for “falling out without permission” 15/12/17 to 64 Casualty Clearing Station with appendicitis 23/12/17 invalided to UK 24/12/17 to 14/2/18 Dane John Hospital Canterbury with appendicitis and to Lenham VAD Red Cross Hospital in Kent until 13/3/18 26/8/18 posted to Italy with 3rd Bn. S Staffs 15/10/18 FP No. 1 & forfeit 2 days’ pay for “absenting himself on the line of march about 1 pm without permission & remaining absent until reporting to his CSM at 4pm 14/10/18 1 day 15 hrs)”. 12/7/19 & 7/8/19 admitted to hospital in Taranto, Italy 1/8/19 posted to 2 (S) Coy. 1st GB [Garrison battalion?] Italy 1919 with Suffolks Demob papers gave address as Fisher Lane. |
